The Commissioner for Agriculture, Alhaji Malami Yandoto and three directors-general had resigned their appointments in the last one month.
The DGs included that of Governor’s Office,
Alhaji Mustapha Bukkuyum; Alhaji Shehu Yanware of the Directorate of Inter-Party Relations and Alhaji Haruna Jangebe of the Directorate of Non-Governmental Organisations.
The commissioner, who was very close to the governor, announced his resignation from the cabinet through a letter addressed to the Secretary to the State Government on May 21.
Yandoto quickly announced his resignation with a declaration in a local radio station in Gusau that he had also defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Addressing his supporters at his home in Tsafe on Saturday, Yandoto said he could no longer work with the government.
The interim Caretaker Chairman of the PDP in the state, Alhaji Adamu Danja, said the party had “happily received the new members”.
“We are also discussing with more top government functionaries in the state, because many more are willing to join us since they have faith in our party,” he said.
Danja explained that very soon all those who decamped and their supporters would be formally received at a grand reception in the state.
Reacting to the situation, the APC spokesman in the state, Alhaji Sani Gwamna, told NAN that the party was unshaken by the actions of the defectors.
He said that those who left would soon realise their mistakes and return to the APC.(NAN)
