There
was pandemonium at the early hours of Sunday at Ipaja area of Lagos state, as a
six-man gang of armed robbers attempted to break open the Automated Teller Machine, ATM
of one
of the new generation banks in the area.
The policemen from Ayobo Police
Division however responded to the distress call from the bank and it resulted into an
exchange of gun fires between the police and the robbers where the police team leader, Longus
Amuzie, an Assistant Superintendent of Police and one other lost their lives.

Public Relations Officer, Ngozi Braide, later confirmed that the robbery was
unsuccessful as no money was carted away while four members of the gang were
arrested by the swift intervention of Special Anti-Robbery Squad.
