PDP chieftain’s wife and son abducted by gunmen in Bayelsa

Some daring gunmen on Friday successfully kidnaped the wife and son of Chief Gbalipre Turner, younger brother of King Amalate Turner, the Obanema of Opume Kingdom and  state treasurer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The incident took place at the family house in Opume, Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State  and it was subsequently confirmed by the Bayelsa Police Command.

The level of insecurity in the home state of president Goodluck Jonathan has of recent been on the rise as this abduction was the second in two days, following the abduction of the 78-year old father of the Commissioner of Tourism Development, Nelson Belief.

It is to be noted that President Jonathan hails from Ogbia, where a sister of one of his aides, Oronto Douglas, faced a similar fate last month.
No contact has been made with the family so far by the kidnappers, a source said.
