Nigeria President, Goodluck
Ebele Jonathan yesterday congratulated the Super Eagle for being the first
African nation to qualify for the Brazil 2014 World Cup.
In a presidency statement
issued, the president hailed the 2013 AFCON Champions for beating Ethiopia 2-0 (Agg.
4-1) and grabbed the ticket to FIFA 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
“President Jonathan joins other
proud and happy Nigerians in applauding the Super Eagles’ dogged and determined
performance against the Ethiopians over the two legs of the final qualifying
round which ensured away and home victories, and also ensured that Nigeria will
be at the World Cup Finals for the fifth time,” Presidency statement said.
At the same time, the president
of world football governing body (FIFA) Sepp Blatter has also congratulated
Nigeria for being the first Africa country to qualify for the world cup.
Joseph Sepp Blatter posted on
his official twitter page Sunday, Sepp Blatter wrote: “@SeppBlatter: Congratulations Nigeria! 1st African team
qualified for #WorldCup after 4-1 aggregate win v Ethiopia. A 5th World Cup for
the Super Eagles.”
Meanwhile, Edo State Governor,
Adam Oshiomhole congratulated the Super Eagle of Nigeria for making Nigerians
proud.
In a statement issued from the
government house, he said, “Government House statement said, “The Super Eagles
have shown that they are indeed the Champions of Africa by emerging the first
country from the continent to qualify for the World cup, joining the ranks of
other great football nations like Germany, Netherlands, Spain and England,
among others, who have already qualified”.
Many other loving Nigerians have been sending their greetings to the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
