PHCN Workers and Pensioners Protest round the Country Yesterday (Monday) As New Private Investors Take over Today (Tuesday)


The workers and Pensioners of Power Holding Company of Nigeria troop out in large number virtually through Nigeria to protest the non-payment of their entitlements and accusing Governments for deceiving people of payment of their entitlement.


Coincident protests of the employees and pensioners to get their entitlement before the private investors take over today. They both pointed accuse fingers on the Government for deceiving the public that issues in the electricity sector have been resolved.

  
Yesterday (Monday), the federal government of Nigeria in a ceremony at president villa Banquet Hall, Abuja hands over licenses and certificate to the private investors who will take over today.

Fifteen out of the eighteen successors companies of Power Holding Company of Nigeria, PHCN of the distribution and generating unit will take over today.

Ughelli Power Plc, Geregu Power Plc, Egbin Power Plc, Kainji Hydro Electric Plc and Shiroro Hydro Electric Power Plc are the privatized generating companies. The distribution privatized companies are; the one located in Abuja (Disco), Benin, Lagos (Eko), Ibadan, Lagos (Ikeja), Jos, Kano, Port-Harcourt, Yola and Enugu. The other PHCN companies yet to be taken over due to issues relating to settlement are those one located at Sapele, Afam and Kaduna.
