Senate President David Mark leads Federal Government Delegates to cheer the U17 Nigerian players (Golden Eaglets) in their final match against Mexico today.
Leadership reports that;
President
Goodluck Jonathan has constituted a high-powered delegation to cheer the Golden
Eaglets in their final match at the ongoing FIFA U-17 World Cup
tournament in United Arab Emirates.
This
information is contained in a statement issued by Dr Reuben Abati, his Special
Adviser on Media and Publicity, in Abuja on Thursday.
The
statement said the delegation would be headed by the Senate President, Sen.
David Mark, with the Minister of Special Duties, Alhaji Tanimu
Turaki, as member.
The
others members are: the Minister of Labour, Chief Emeka Wogu; the Minister of
Water Resources, Mrs Sarah Ochekpe; and the Minister of State for FCT, Mrs
Olajumoke Akinjide.
It
stated that the delegation would represent the Federal Government at the
Friday’s FIFA U-17 World Soccer finals between Nigeria and Mexico.
Jonathan
charged them to ensure that the Golden Eaglets received all necessary support
and motivation for victory during the encounter.
``The
president told the delegation to reassure the Golden Eaglets and their handlers
of his personal confidence and expectation that they will maintain their excellent
track-record in this year’s championship and crown their winning performances
with another victory against the Mexicans tomorrow.''
The
statement quoted the president as conveying to the Eaglets, through the
delegation, the best wishes of all Nigerians for their victory.
It
stated that the president promised to join other patriotic Nigerians, within
and outside the country, to cheer them on to victory during the match.
``He
looks forward to receiving them at the Presidential Villa and showing them the
full appreciation of the nation when, as expected, they return in triumph to
Nigeria,’’ the statement added. (NAN)
