Iyetade Verity Soyinka, a daughter of Nobel laureate Wole Soyinka and Mrs. Olayide Soyinka, will be buried on Friday, January 10 in Ibadan, capital of Oyo State.

The late Ms. Soyinka died on December 28, 2013 at theUniversity Teaching Hospital, Ibadan, after a brief illness. She was born on June 5, 1965.

The Osun State Education Policy our administration is  currently implementing is not a haphazard, impressionistic voyage.  It is rather a comprehensive and holistic response to a scandalous educational rot, which we found, at the inception of our government, unbefitting of a state and people that were part of the first revolutionary educational policy in Nigeria; by which I mean Chief Obafemi Awolowo and his Action Group (AG) party’s free primary education policy, which started in the old Western Region in 1955.

The Joint Military Task Force (JTF) yesterday in Rivers State arrested six youths bearing seven AK47 rifles around Ekporo Road on their way to Ogu.

Among them was Daniel Ibito-Anga, who parades himself and is known in Ogu Bolo as Security Adviser/PA to Senator George Sekibo (Rivers East Senatorial zone) and Evans Bipi, the Rivers State Assemblyman who was recently stopped by a court from parading himself as the Speaker of the Assembly.

Bus Driver Crushes Motorcyclist, Passenger To Death

A commuter bus driver Thursday crushed to death a commercial motorcyclist and a passenger at Alagbole, a border town between Ogun and Lagos State, western Nigeria.

The motorcyclist and a passenger, who were said to be coming from Berger bus stop in Lagos, died instantly while another passenger who sustained injuries was taken to Mainland General Hospital, on Lagos Island.
The driver of the bus is said to be on the run and the police are on his trail.
